

One of my earliest and most cherished freelance collaborations was with Tilly, a highly skilled, Birmingham-based barber specialising in Afro hair. From our initial discussions 14 years ago, the core objective was to establish a minimalistic yet timeless brand identity, reflecting the enduring nature of barbering itself. We aimed for longevity, creating a visual language that would remain relevant and impactful through evolving trends. The design style embraced a deliberate clarity for instant brand recognition. Typographically, we crafted a unique voice, subtly evolving a strong yet approachable typeface to reinforce the brand's direct and trustworthy message. The resulting brand design, for which Tilly now holds full copyright, has become a powerful visual asset in her thriving career. Seeing her confidently represent this identity, a testament to our close collaboration and her years of dedication, fills me with immense professional pride.
